Everyone Deserves To Be Complimented
I appreciate strangers' compliments.
Not the creeps who catcalls you and expects something, but the ones who sees you and thinks, "That person looks great and they should know it."
I've had my fair share of compliments from random people and I still remember them.
- I was heading to the parking lot with my friends and a person passed by me and shouted out, "You look like a model!" I thought it was funny and cool because around that time, my friends and family have been saying that I should be a model because of how tall I am.
- A guy came up to me, wanting to talk to me and invite me on a date because he thought I looked cool. I rejected his offer but I was still very flattered, especially since he was nice about it.
- I was trying on a yukata that was black and purple and these two girls said that colors matched my skin tone. At that time I was finding out about my skin tone so it helped me be more confident in what colors goes well on me.
- An Ulta worker passed by me and said, "You look way too pretty." I didn't have makeup on and my self-esteem was kind of winding down so that gave me a boost of confidence.
Sometimes these can sound like people are giving out random compliments with no care in the world.
It's easy to give into that negative thinking.
However, I want to be more optimistic and believe they were genuine.
After all, it doesn't take that much effort to give a genuine compliment. If you notice you like about a person, whether their style, the vibe they give off, or you want to be kind to someone, go ahead and say it.
I'm sure it'll help their day, and maybe even their self-esteem.
